DISCOVERING LIFE'S MEANING

Humans are wired to analyze their lives, reflect on the decisions they've made, weigh the repercussions of those decisions, and learn from their experiences.


Wellbeing is an interior, personal concept that is fundamental in nature and related with self-esteem and self-understanding. Simply stated, how we feel about ourselves pervades every aspect of our being.


Life satisfaction refers to our contentment with the path our lives are taking, the situations we find ourselves in, and the aspects that comprise our life conditions. It is also innate, but in this case, it refers to our general outlook on life.

 

OVERALL LEARNING AND STORY TIME


By this chapter, I finally realized the difference between the well-being and life satisfaction. I found out that well-being is internal instinct like how we feel about ourselves, as well as how we see ourselves. On the other hand, life satisfaction directly refers to our contentment with our chosen paths in our life.


Then I remember that before I chose psychology as my program, I remember that I once dreamed to become a social science teacher. But then again, I got scared and anxious about my well-being; self-esteem. Before, I always have a low self-confidence, I always believe that I can’t do things right as well as teaching so that when I enter senior high school, I let go of that dream and chose Accountancy and Business and Management strand because I thought that this environment it fit for me.

As days passed, I felt that there’s something missing about myself, I feel empty though I passed my quizzes and exams, I don’t have grade issues. Yet, that was the moment I found out that I am no longer happy on the things that I am studying. I realized that this track is not for me and I can’t do anything about it. Until one of my professors told me that I should make choices that will make me happy, he’s a psychology major and he inspired so that one day I woke up and I found myself that I want to become like my professor. I want to help people who are discontented and I want to lead to the path where they will be happy on their choices.


Finally, I realized that I can still become a teacher with this program and I believe this program will help me to grow and can influence my well-being so that I can also help someone who’s like me before and that’s when I found myself contented.
