CONNECTIONS WITH NATURE
Our spiritual self is connected to how we communicate with nature as well as how we communicate with God and other people.
Affinity with nature is described as "the bonds that connect humans and nature." It can also refer to natural interconnectivity, which is described as "the degree to which humans embrace nature as part of their identity."
Many parallels exist between ecopsychology and a natural affinity. It is concerned with the “fundamental linkages between humans and the natural world via a phenomenological and sensory relationship, as well as the integration of practices based on the premise that direct touch with the natural world has therapeutic potential.”
STORY TIME
One year ago, my cat died and he lived with me for 9 years and it was one of the most painful and traumatizing part of my life. My cat became my solace and safe haven, he knows all my sadness and secrets since the day he lived with me. Whenever I have a problem, he’s the first one who’ll know about it. He knows all my crushes; he knows how many times I got dumped and cry over it for a couple of times
When his time comes, I don’t how to feel, it feels like I lost the best person in my life and that’s when I found out that I have built a strong connection with him. To the point that when that connection lost, I feel lost too. This chapter has taught me that nature can also be something that would make you grow as a person, nature can make you feel human and create a connection within you, like how I did with my cat. My cat taught me to value things and remain calm in life. This chapter also taught me that we humans are responsible to nature, each step we take will create an effect to our nature. That’s why we need to start a movement and foster an utmost protection for our nature, for nature to grow, for us to be more human.
